Three boys….:) Never a dull moment. So much fun and energy packs into little boys!
Our goal was to document family being family….movement, emotion, and boys being boys. They made my job easy…such a beautiful family.
We met on a cold day…and I get little boys bring grouchy because they are not loving the activity at hand. :) But let me tell you, these little guys had top notch attitudes the whole time…in spite of the cold.
Rebecca is such a beautiful mommy…truly. It made my mommy’s heart melt to see her interact with her boys. The photo on the left is one of her favorites. I understand that…’cause it would be one of mine also. Something about our little boys kissing our lips that makes our hearts burst and overflow.
This is me and mine.
It is 2013! Wow….I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that another year has gone by. This year, priority over a list of goals…(which I will do) I am going to focus in on values. What are my values? What do I stand for? What does ‘life with excellence’ look like to me? This will be the platform for my goals. Anticipating!
Other NEWS…WE HAVE A WINNER to our GIVEAWAY. Thank-you to everybody that entered. We appreciate you! Check back TOMORROW for the announcement! :)
I celebrated my birthday a few weeks ago. Yep, I will tell you….I am 35. Grimace. I have arrived at that point in life where I would rather NOT share how old I am. Actually, it kinda freaks me out. It sounds SO old…. I feel like I am STILL growing up! I have this feeling of….when I will actually be all grown up? Does that feeling ever go away?? I remember being a teenager and looking at people in their thirties and thinking they are so old and mature…kinda boring, actually.;) I thought they must have life all figured out and don’t have any insecurities about who they are and what they do. Now that I am here, I still feel like a kid….and life…..will I ever have it all figured out?
But you know what I am learning? Life is journey. Yeah, yeah…..heard that ten million times, you are saying. Yeah, me to. Trite. I know. But REALLY…..hear me out….it IS a journey. And that is what I am realizing at this ‘OLD’ stage of life. Each day we make decisions. They may feel insignificant. And they may be. At least some of them. But these little decisions. These steps in a direction. They add up. Day after day. Moment after moment. One foot in front of the other…..they take me somewhere. Some steps may be a battle. Others are as easy as breathing. Some may feel trivial. Others may feel like I just hurdled a mountain. These steps….require a great deal of PATIENCE and certainly and for sure, INTENTIONALITY. God has granted me the permission to make decisions. And these little decisions….good and bad….they define my destiny.
SO….where does this leave me? It is quite simple. AWARE and INTENTIONAL. But lighthearted in the midst. It is not with heavy feeling that I realize this. I am granted what I need for each step of the way. I simply want to BE PRESENT and ENJOY the journey. Again, trite. I know. BUT….so true. Allow the ups and downs. The steps forward and yes, the steps backwards. The highlights. The hard times. I will give and I will receive. Plan and look forward but all the while…embrace the ebb and flow of life.
Ten years ago, I didn’t understand that! So maybe I am actually growing up. Ha. At least a little. Kinda. Maybe I don’t actually need to grow up. Besides, what is the definition of “grown up”? If it is old and boring….then maybe I will always stay a kid. Even when I am old and gray and playing with my grand-kids…I will still wonder when I will be all grown up.
Corde, my baby, is two. Riley is eight…counting down the days until he turns nine next month. He has been talking about his birthday gift ever since summer. Adler is goofy and silly and quite absent minded…he is 7 with missing front teeth. Photo credit to ANDREA for many of these photos. I grabbed a few also.
Who said I need to grow up anyway? Eh?
There is something about belonging. We need it. It is part of what we long for at our core. It is peace in the midst of turmoil. It is happiness during tears. It is beautiful. It is strength. It is a deep sigh….yes, this is good.
Ky and Justin…here is to you. Your gorgeous little girl. Your future. Here is to you and all you are. Thank-you for inviting me into your lives. You guys are BEAUTIFUL together.
Ky is a photographer…so we had to pull out a camera.:)
What an incredibly beautiful family! Their contagious personality and easy laughter was so fun to be part of and photograph. Their little man is definitely the apple of their eye. His name is Finn…although he also goes by a number of endearing nicknames. Jasmine is a photographer…check out her beautiful work HERE. Such a honor to be asked by another photographer for family photos.
What a sweet mama she is….
Mr. Finn is quite handsome…:)
Thank-you Jasmine! You and your lovely family were truly a pleasure to meet!!

You will need to bear with me. This is going to be one long post. But you see, it is my sister’s wedding. And I cannot help myself. I want to show you everything. She was so beautiful. The sun was so warm. The sky so blue. The laughter so happy. The joy so tangible. The dancing so jolly. The hugs so tight. The food so good. It was my sister’s wedding day….let me tell you the story with pictures. It was a perfect wedding day for my little sister. You will see.
I admit, I was torn between my role as a bridesmaid and wanting to go crazy with my camera. So, I kinda did both. A little, at least. I photographed parts of the day when my role as a bridesmaid was not involved. Andrea and Jamie rocked their cameras and many of the photos you will see here are their images. Thank-YOU Andrea and Jamie!
To see Crystal and Andrew’s wedding even more than this post, see the slideshow HERE.
Together these two are adventure, life, and laughter! Crystal and Andrew….here is to you and ALL you are together. Love you both dearly. :)
The day took place at Tulpehocken Manor & Estate.
The was gorgeous. The whole week was. On the morning of her wedding, Crystal posted on her Facebook wall…”Today… I get married! And it’s a perfect beautiful day. It’s like all of heaven is rejoicing!” :) Yup.
We started off right with bacon and banana pancakes on the patio. :)
The DRESS. Ok, let me tell you just a little about this dress. Crystal and a seamstress worked together to design this dress. Each piece of fabric was tea dyed to a ‘just right’ golden hue. Each piece of lace was carefully selected and then placed on the dress. This dress was designed to be all about texture, whimsy, organic. It was a series of fittings, tweaking, adjusting, tea dying some more…until PERFECTION. The entire process was so Crystal. So pretty.
Crystal and details get along quite well. Details make Crystal’s eyes sparkle. She made each of the bridesmaids our very own personal hanger.
In many ways, everybody had a part in the day…it was family and friends coming together all adding there piece. See the Crystal’s head piece on the left? Our brother Daryl made this for her.
GRACE pampered. And did makeup. :)
Little sister Amber writing a note for the bride.
We knew our mother was watching from heaven. Oh how she would have loved to be part of the day. I know she would have beamed and have been so very proud. Crystal’s ‘something blue’ was a piece of fabric from our mother’s wedding dress. Yes, our mother’s wedding dress was blue. :) Tacked inside Crystal’s dress just above her heart. :)
AND, the man of the day…Andrew. This man treats my little sister like a queen. For real. I think he would do almost anything for her. Nothing too high or too far for this man….you name, he will go for it at all possible. Yup, I approve. :)
Pure joy. Most of the day, Crystal either had her head back laughing or was grinning at Andrew. Andrew, well he was quite smitten. ;)
The Manor’s old car was fun to have as part of the day.
She glowed. For real.
All the handsome fellows.
This is our brother, Daryl. He did ALL the flowers. Nope, he is not a florist. Just really good at anything he wants to be good at at. He did all the boutonnieres, bouquets, and reception centerpieces.
Crystal wanted a very natural-untamed-wildflower-thrown together-just picked from the garden feel to the bouquets.
Me and my sisters:)
And our family.
Ok, can I brag for a minute?? These our my babies….oh my, melt my heart looking so handsome in their bow ties and suspenders.
Almost time to walk the aisle. Reading a letter from Andrew…
Riley was the ring bear. The rings were carried on our mother’s Bible. Sunflowers were her favorite flower.
Dad and Crystal.
Loved Crystal’s flowers.
Adler, Riley, and cousin Lincoln were the ring bearers.
Festivities included yard games such as croquet, bocce ball, and yard sized checkers.
Andrew made the checkers game!
Andrew made the flower boxes for the tables from old barn wood. Daryl filled them with flowers. Many of the flowers and all of the hens and chicks were cut from our family’s back yards.
Bridal table and flannel shirt ready to go for later in the evening.:)
Just cause I think he is cute.;)
The smores fixings.
Tabitha, our sister-in-law, did a fantastic job designing the candy station.
All of the dishes used on the dessert table were borrowed from aunts and our Grandma. In fact, one of the cake stands used was a wedding gift to our Grandma at her wedding! The blue chickens are from our Grandma’s collection…she has a whole cabinet full of them!
Aaaah, love the lighting.
See the wooden dance floor? Made by Andrew with their names and date carved in the middle. Yup, labor of love this man did to give his bride her dream wedding.
And the night was finished off with dancing under the stars. Square dancing to be exact!
And a little line dancing too. :)
At that is my little sister and her wedding day. Sigh. :)
Andrea has been so wonderful to work with this past year! I love everything about her upbeat personality, her easy laugh, and her enthusiasm to ‘make it happen’! This past spring Andrea and I swapped family sessions. Her girls are so stinking adorable! After jean shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers…I always get a little envious of how much fun little girls are to dress! Sooo many options. Andrea has been working with me on wedding days and also shooting senior sessions. Coming up soon here on the blog will be several seniors Andrea photographed this past week! ANDREA….your the best. Thank-YOU for being so wonderful. Seriously.
Mike and Claudia. I love these guys. Claudia is a kindred spirit. And Mike. Super brother, he is. You know how spending time with certain people leave you energized and affirmed? Well, Mike and Claudia are that. Time spent with them is so refreshing. They are beautiful people doing beautiful things. BIG things and I am so proud and amazed at ALL they are doing. I kinda think they are starting a movement and this is only the tip of the iceberg of where they are going. Take a minute to visit their blog, rise365.com. I am pretty sure you will stay longer than you anticipated and you will walk away so glad you did and with a lot to think about. Mike and Claudia. You rock. Here is to an epic life that blows your wildest dreams out of the water. Indeed.
So stinking cute with blueberry eyes…little Jude is such a great kid.
So pretty, Claudia. Seriously.
Oh my goodness, this little man grinned his way through his entire photo session! And he is ONE. If you have a one year old, you will know that grins AND a photo session TOGETHER is pretty epic. This little man’s name is Colin. And I am smitten with his crazy curls. :)
In an effort to keep my schedule under control, I schedule a very limited amount of family and child photo sessions. The limited amount goes to folks I already have a relationship with. Colin’s parents are previous wedding clients! How fun to photograph a child of a previous bride and groom of mine! Thank-you Josh, Brynn, and little Colin such a fun and enjoyable time!
This was at the very end of the session….and he is still beaming from ear to ear!
